    Biden aide threatens reporter

During the off-the-record call, Ducklo made derogatory and misogynistic comments, accusing Palmeri of only reporting on his relationship—which, due to the ethics questions that factor into the relationship between a journalist and White House official, falls under the purview of her reporting beat—because she was “jealous” that an unidentified man in the past had “wanted to fuck” McCammond “and not you.” Ducklo also accused Palmeri of being “jealous” of his relationship with McCammond. (Palmeri had no prior relationship or communication with McCammond before calling her to report on the Playbook item, which was a story that she was assigned and had not independently pursued.)

True to form. The Obama administration was the most censorial administration in recent memory, so it’s no wonder the Biden administration is little different.

I expect a whole bunch of outrage over such attacks on the free press, but don’t hold your breath.

    Corruption?

Actually might be just the always irritating realpolitik of the Saudi-US alliance, that still is important. Or would it be better that the relations went the way of one former US ally, Pakistan? Or like with another one, once heralded as the other "Twin-Pillars" ally of the US, Iran? Americans would so much love to hate the Saudis.

As an Arizona resident, we have been aware that 30-35 immigrants without having citizenship, were going to be released daily into our state at the Yuma port of entry, from the moment Joe rolled back our agreement with Mexico to have people applying for asylum wait in Mexico. Our media had been aware of it and we are aware of it but this is a surprise to Joe?
You have to have a negative COVID 19 test in order to fly into the USA but not if you walk across our border.
    It's not okay.

I don't know which party is more hypocritical here. Starting from W Bush and the Saudi role in 9/11, which was back then a big issue for the Republicans.

Saudi-US alliance is something like if United States and Russia would be allies: would make strategic sense (nobody would dare to oppose that superior tag-team on the World stage), yet the alliance would create constant bitching the US backing non-democratic Russia and Russians getting irritated of US involvement. Both countries would likely be annoyed by the "unholy" alliance, even if it would make strategic sense...if such alliance could have been created after the Cold War (a possibility, but would have needed larger than life politicians to do that).

In similar fashion the US-Saudi relationship gives the US a huge position in the Middle East, especially when Iraq and Syria have collapsed and Egypt is in turmoil. If the relations goes sour and Saudi Arabia seeks security guarantees from China and Russia, then the trainwreck that is called US Middle East policy would be final. And then the final ally left would be Israel.

But that's how US alliances end: they end either with a revolution (example: Iran) or with just a souring of the relations with finally both sides not bothering to think about the relationship anymore (Pakistan).

@180 Proof Georgian Republicans are sore losers. Let's have an extra helping of voter suppression now that the law we instituted in 2005 no longer works in our favour.

What keeps you there when stuff like that happens regularly in Georgia?

If there wasn't a once-in-a-century global virus, it's undeniable that Trump would have won. Even intra-pandemic decisions such as passing a larger stimulus prior to the election could have changed the outcome of the election, as pointed out. It's an exercise to precisely recollect - a year plus after the fact and given the year we've have - how absolutely fucked Biden's campaign seemed to be until Super Tuesday when still viable candidates suddenly dropped out and Biden became the de facto nominee despite how close the delegate count was. There was even some ad hoc Presidential support for Andrew Cuomo

Cuomo has emerged as a possible, but not plausible, alternative to square off against the president, not only because of the coronavirus, Sabato said, but because of the current state of the Democratic race.

"The scene has changed...Biden was able to derail Sanders," Sabato said, calling the Vermont senator the great "fear" of mainstream Democratic leadership. "Then they started refocusing and seeing all of [Biden’s] drawbacks."

"They're focusing now on his age and, you know, the lack of articulation and fill in the blank. They just wonder if he's vigorous enough to take on Trump," he added.

In hindsight, it's funny to re-read Obama's misgivings about Biden's campaign abilities (while accurate) given Biden's (by admission) far better stimulus overshadowing Obama's by a trillion $. The Biden Administration told Larry Summers to fuck off at least.

My memory is that all the candidates dropped out and endorsed Biden after he did very well in West Virginia, and then support peaked with the media coverage. Warren had grudges and didn't do the same for Bernie, criticizing him on MSNBC instead. Biden's dangers were underestimated because all the critical fire was on Bloomberg at the time.

The crisis at the border is getting little press. When children were held in facilities during the Trump administration, celebrities cried, the United Nations virtue-signalled, and the world was aghast. When it happens under Biden we get none of that.

I am going to point out your error, and then apply language I feel is exactly appropriate for a person who persistently and deliberately makes such errors, and seemingly in service of some agenda.

Trump's policy was to separate and then cage children apart from the adults - presumably parents or other relatives - they were traveling with. Miller was reported at the time this practice was uncovered to be very surprised that anyone would notice or care, that anticipated lack of attention or concern being just where he had expected to hide.

Biden is apparently dealing with unaccompanied children - apparently a lot of them - by and for whom he is trying to do the right and best thing.

But you conceal the difference. That makes you a dirty, fucking liar, and if I had my way, no keystroke of yours would appear here. Not because I do not like your views, but because you are a nasty fucking liar, in your comments utterly dishonest. You would be, should be, thrown out with the trash.

You say “separate families”, without mentioning the fact that many of them weren’t families at all, but child traffickers and the children they used to get across the border. You effectively promote keeping trafficked children with their traffickers, and have zero care for that crime and the children it exploits.

That’s a lie. The DHS had no blanket separation policy. The only reasons the DHS would separate children from the adults is 1) when DHS is unable to determine the familial relationship, 2) when DHS determines that a child may be at risk with the parent or legal guardian, or 3) when the parent or legal guardian is referred for criminal prosecution. You would see that they are kept with their abusers, or otherwise jailed with their parents.
