This story broke in Time Magazine (I don't think it's paywalled, I've been able to access it.)

I started using ChatGPT as soon as it launched and am suitably amazed by it. But this story shows it has a kind of underside or shadow, Kenyan workers making less than $2.00 per hour to 'clean up' the content, which required reviewing (or wading through) all kinds of internet filth - bestiality, child abuse material and so on. The managing agency eventually pulls their workers out of the cesspit - to their credit - but still, worth knowing about.
