  • Mind over Matter?
I suppose that in the view of an atheist, that would work at least until alien contact or the Singularity. What if something comes along without neurons that can think? I recently started watching Star Trek, and came across the concept in The Skin of Evil, when a puddle of black goo showed sentience, despite having no cells at all that resembled any other race's biology. So, no neurons to fire. What would you say in that case?
  • What is the ideal Government?
The reason for the first one is because of the Cold War and its participation in space travel.
  • What is the ideal Government?
No. The ideal government is a collection of different governments of equal power that hate each other, if you are looking for advancement of humanity. If your argument is freedom, anarchy, if it is religion, monarchy.
  • Does God make sense?
Unless we lose humanity and become a hyperdimensional being, we cannot prove or disprove a God.
  • Does God make sense?
Precisely nothing, actually. That is also the answer to the question of time. There was no time before time, and yet there was infinite time before time. I conclude this discussion with the reasoning that we humans, in our current knowledge, don't know enough to make a concrete, science-based conclusion on the existence or nonexistance of a God. The basis of religion (including atheism) is belief.
  • Mind over Matter?
Being able to teleport, telekinesis, etc.
  • What does it mean to say that something is physical or not?
Correction: defined in terms of OUR physics.
  • Mind over Matter?
But what causes the “brain activity”?
  • Does God make sense?
    What do you mean?
  • Does God make sense?
Perhaps, but there is equal (if not more) evidence of intelligent design.
  • How does language relate to thought?
Or for us theists, God (most likely)
  • Does God make sense?
Because it would take googols of years for random chance to form a Universe at all, and much, much longer to form a Universe like this.
  • Does God make sense?
If you are speaking of the Israel conquests, God was using Israel to punish other countries.
  • Does God make sense?
God is from before. God created time, created limits. All things are from God, except the void.
  • Does God make sense?
Thank you. In fact, it is benefitial, at least to other people. My belief in God influences my decisions in that I try to be kind to people and refrain from drugs, alchohol and violence. I do not suggest someone becomes a Christian, however, if they really don’t believe in it. That won’t stop me from trying to show them that God is real and is active.
  • Does God make sense?
it makes sense because God has infinite power
  • Dishonest Philosophy
Until we can explain them, however, it’s still fun to theorize.
  • First Talos Principle question
Intriguing idea, but what of other life forms, such as those beyond in space?
  • First Talos Principle question
But what makes something sentient? When would a machine become sentient, capable of thought? And are we humans REALLY capable of thought? Or the illusion of it?
  • What is NOTHING?
simple answer: nothing is absence of something. Or, in some contexts, no thing. Example: nothing is taller than Mount Everest. No thing is taller than Mount Everest.
  • Theism, some say, is a mental illness
Theism CAN be brainwashing, depending on why a person believes in it. It’s not a mental illness. It spreads from one person to another, so maybe instead it would be classified as a pathogenic disease, but then again, it all comes down to choice.
  • Dishonest Philosophy
The truth is nobody knows enough about the Universe and beyond to make concrete conclusions about metaphysical things. Until then, everybody is free to make preconceived beliefs about these topics.
  • Does God make sense?
Based on the answers I have been given here, I draw my conclusion: nobody has any idea whether God exists, science doesn’t have any idea either. Until someone proves or disproves God, I will continue to serve Him, because it’s better to be safe than sorry.
  • Does God make sense?
I don’t know how to quote officially, but in response to the question, “what came before God,” God is eternal. He has no beginning and no end. That is why He cannot be killed.
  • What if good leaders become evil intentionally?
Interesting answer. My emphasis is different from yours, however. What I meant was: is there such thing as necessary “evil”? Does oppression of the powerful to the weak have something good as a result? In other words, would it better humanity to be an oppressive leader?
  • First Talos Principle question
The Talos Principle is a puzzle game that involves a shady, deceptive character named Elohim, an unnamed android, a bunch of ruins and a mysterious tower that Elohim doesn’t want you to touch. The point of the game is: 1) to think creatively to solve puzzles for sigils that unlock things, and 2) to think independently, to ask questions.
  • First Talos Principle question
Wait, are you, also, a human supremacist?
  • What is the mind?
The mind is the soul, or a physical representation of it. This may be proven false later on but until then I believe this is the best answer.
