I have heard many Americans complaining about the cost of the healthcare for the US federal budget & debt, but I almost never have heard people (except Michael Moore) questioning why doctors in the USA are paid so much.

The general opinion is that US doctors deserve their money because they study more than anyone else in this country. But I have two questions on this argument:

    1) Why US is the only country in the world where you cannot enroll in a Medical School if you do not have a Bachelor's degree from elsewhere?

    2) Why Medical Schools tend to be so expensive?

There is another belief that doctors work more hard and are more talented than other people, but to tell you the truth this belief is spread mostly among doctors themselves and among those who are educated the least.

In this country I see many people blaming the poor, the minorities, the immigrants, etc., for the high federal debt, but as I see the things more money is spent with those who provide the services than with those who receive these federal services. Even in the case USAID a high percentage of the money that allegedly receive the Sudanese, Ethiopians, etc., goes to US specialists, doctors and managers who work for the USAID (making me wonder again why people complain about the help the government gives to the poor in the US and other countries, when a big part of this money goes to rich Americans who work for these programs).

To sum up, I have seen people working hard in the USA. I have seen people studying, being smart and talented, and contributing to their communities in one or another way. Nevertheless these people in the US are paid four or five times less than the doctors. I can't help thinking that the only reason why the majority of doctors in the USA receive more than 150k a year is because health and life are so important for us human beings. In other words, what makes doctors so precious in this country are not their skills and hard work, but the fact that in this country the government permits them to trade the lives and the health of the many. Is that the way things should be in the USA? What is your opinion? Why in so many countries where people are richer than Americans, their doctors and dentists aren't richer than American doctors and dentists?

The US is a collection of individuals united only by their greed, and their hatred of being told what to do. There is no understanding of co-operative behaviour, or its benefits. In such a country, anything can happen.
