The flock of geese above me
    Upon a New Year's Eve
Say, flying, that they love me
    And cherish all that lives

    Flying to warmer climates
    Arranged into a V
    The gargling winged pilots
    Heading toward victory -

    Reminding man of beauty
    And of eternal peace
    Dispelling and refuting
    Gloom, turmoil and distress -

    Through gold-and-diamond sunshine
    And through the velvet rain
    You carry truth and passion
    And exquisite refrain

Of what exists inside you -
    The beauty in your hearts,
    The universe beside you,
    Which decomposed to parts

    Rides on upon your feathers
    And sends to ones beneath
    Inexorable treasures
    Of universal bliss.

The flock of geese above me
    Arranged into a V
    Carrying what is lovely
For all the world to see -

To south they fly through darkness
    Under the stars and clouds
    And with reflecting gargles
    They speak, and speak aloud

    Of all that nature knows
And all in it expressed -
In V they fly, in rows
    And all below them bless.

    Fly onward, my companions,
    Fly onward, my dear friends,
    Within your hearts contained is
    Beginning and the end,

    And as you are repairing
And as you fly all night
Bring with you peace and caring
    And universal light.
