    At www.incrementalcompressionconjecture.com a philosophical framework is presented where incremental compression is what manifests our universe, mainly reflected by the second law of thermodynamics. Several aspects of quantum mechanics are conceptually similar to techniques used within computer science for compression. One of the biggest questions in physics is whether information is lost or not in black holes - this conjecture says that yes, contrary to consensus, it is lost.

    Then, @Wayfarer, information is neither matter nor energy (re: conservation laws) and so is nonphysical.

    According to the conjecture potential energy is a representation of underlying compressible information. Conservation of energy are only valid for
    the sum potential+kinetic energy, and conservation of information is not as solid as the other conservation laws.
