  • Does consciousness = Awareness/Attention?
    Does consciousness = Awareness ?Basko

Consciousness is a direct result of ones awareness of ones self, while awareness could not truly exist without ones consciousness. I still wouldn't say that consciousness = awareness, it seems like there just simply dependent on one another. Consciousness seems to be ones awareness of existence, while awareness seems to be more about learning or knowing what surrounds ones consciousness.

When someone sleep, we say he/she is not consciousBasko

People saying that a sleeping person is not conscious seems to be more of a societal norm than anything. We don't truly understand what sleep is yet or why we do it, but it isn't a state that lacks consciousness. Being asleep is another form of consciousness, just like dreaming is another form of awareness.
  • Is self-confidence, as an accepted value, an element for egoistic behaviors ?
But the meaning of confidence is a belief in infallibility before the actionDavid Jones

This seeming more like the saying of, "What came first, the chicken or the egg." It almost seems impossible to say whether the thought of infallibility is the cause of ones confidence or if one persons confidence is what causes the thought of infallibility . It's difficult to say that confidence is entirely fallible only because even with a complete lack of confidence there would still be fallibility.

"confidence" , perhaps we should use the word "courage" insteadDavid Jones

. I would agree that there is definitely a better way to word this conflict.
  • What good is a good god, when people want an evil god?
What good is a good god, when people want an evil god?Gnostic Christian Bishop

It's very easy to say that people want an evil god, but most of their wants are based on desire for good. Most people in todays society have nothing to do with the wars that their governments fight, who kills who. I could understand saying those who are in power seek to worship an evil form of god, but that is a very small sub set of society and it is also based on the person bias of each person in power. Most of the inquistions and crusades, although being based on traditional christian beliefs, were also due to the evil desires of those in power at the time. Those who participated were simply being told what to do by thier oligarchs and monarchs, that doesn't excuse them for there actions of course, but their ideals were being manipulated by others. So it seems like quite the broad statement to say that everyone in today's society worships some form of evil god, because it all comes down to ones own bias towards evil.
  • Is self-confidence, as an accepted value, an element for egoistic behaviors ?
If you were to study self-confidence from a perspective that takes into account many eastern philosphies you can find a sort of self-confidence that is the direct result of the loss of ones ego. On the other hand if you were to look at self-confidence as something that is dependent on societal norms, it resembles a sort of stepping stone for the actions of each person you encounter. There isn't much realation between fallibility and confidence, confidence is what starts an individual action, that action is then what should be related to fallibility. Saying someone is egoistic should be based on ones actions, not the amount of confidence they have in themselves.
