  • The paradox of omniscience
I thought knowing that p (a proposition) meant that I couldn't be wrong if to be wrong means p is false.

For a contingent truth q, there's a possible world in which q is false.

Is the OP getting mixed up between falsehood (in our world) and contingent truth (could be a falsehood in some other world)?

  • Conceptualizing Cosmic Consciousness
But doesn't reason actually work in the direction of transcending one level towards another, as I attempted to describe? A highly trained musician can actually perceive elements in a performance that untrained listeners cannot. There is an experiment where a cat's brain does not even register a particular tone (that is within it's audible range) until the tone has been paired with an associated significant stimulus (like food). In A Neurocomputational Perspective Paul Churchland suggests that attaining a sufficient insight into the mechanics of the mind might generate an associated direct awareness thereof.Pantagruel

Possible; I just feel we don't/can't do leaps; graduated progress is the usual deal.

  • Internal thought police - a very bad idea.
I'm not sure if this is relevant but do modern penitentiaries have ethics programs for prisoners? They should, riiiiiiggghhht?
  • Conceptualizing Cosmic Consciousness
As I see it, our conception of cosmic consciousness (oooh!) is limited to only scaling up what is possible with human consciousness; leaps in consciousness - taking the mind to the next level - is, to my reckoning, beyond our ken. That is not to say we can't speculate; we can and we should. After all something's better than nothing, oui mes amies?

Why in Indonesia? It is true they are Muslims, but they are not extremists as much as Saudi Arabia or Iran.javi2541997

Indonesia because it's the world's largest Muslim nation. It hasn't issued fatwas (yet) but if memory serves some Indonesians did go on record that they would kill for Islam.

  • The paradox of omniscience

In my book, "possibly being wrong" is fallibilism which precludes omniscience sensu strictissimo.
  • Salman Rushdie Attack
What worries me is this: An attack on a freethinker such as Salman Rushdie is a) possible and b) that too in the US of A. Had this happened in Iran or Indonesia, it would've made complete sense. The fatwa (death sentence) was issued in Iran and the near-execution took place in the USA.

We then conclude that I could be wrong even if I know everything — Michael

As far as I can tell that's a contradiction: know and wrong are mutually exclusive, oui?
  • Is logic an artificial construct or something integral to nature
To my reckoning, if logic is artificial in that it's our mind imposing itself on the world, the world should be incomprehensible to us and yet...

The most incomprehensible thing about the Universe is that it is comprehensible. — Albert Einstein

The knife cuts both ways though.

Einstein, by the way, was wrong, so they say, about quantum physics. In what sense and degree is an open question nonetheless.

    That's all she wrote.

  • Who believes in the Flat Earth theory?
True, fear has a way of turning reality on its head and that's putting it mildly. In addition though, there's dissatisfaction aka dukkha and it manifests on occasion as ennui: Life, boring! Then the obvious reaction - fantasizing, the explosion of virtual worlds (games/internet) attests, naturally. It all boils down to getting that dopamine surge we seem so addicted to. At some point we just havta trust our biochemistry, that it's leading us towards the light so to speak. There will come a time nonetheless when we can (re)design our bodies, (bio)chemically, to customize our emotions so that, at a minimum, we don't enjoy inflicting pain on others (say no to sadism). Of course all this makes sense only within current moral paradigms. Panta rhei, oui monsieur?
  • On Meditation
Meditation, as is generally prescribed in Eastern religious-philosophical traditions, is basically stillness of mind mostly but also of the body. I definitely don't meditate in any sense of that word but it is on my wish list; plus whenever I become aware that there is such a thing as meditation, like just now, I try to.

In the west, meditation is simply pondering deeply on a particular topic of interest à la René Descartes (vide Meditations).
