You are a composite of who you think you are and who others think you areTheMadFool

I'm just my body. Thoughts influence me. Just like feelings or sensations and perceptions. Of mine and of others. If someone has a seven-year itch I already start to scratch. Am I a composite? Yes. Of feet, legs, hands, arms, torso, a head and face on top. Doing zillions of things with them. Idea, thought, or emotion and perception inspired.

    Who is doing all this?Marchesk

The people. The old has to go to give way to the new.
  • The Inflation Reduction Act
How the hell is anything like that going to be enforced, and why should we think it would be beneficial?Marchesk

It's beneficial for the planet. The Nature that's still on it. As I stated, the capital of the superrich should be reduced with 99%. By force of law. It's our only chance of survival.

He is the only philosopher I actually liked reading. Thanks to a professor at university who recommended him. "Science in a Free Society" and the work for which he is known: "Against Method". Philosopher Ian Hacking once said it was the first time he saw the same book in three utterly different editions (contrary to, for example, Popper, whose books are all the same). You will learn, I can tell you, very well! You show interest! Keep it up!

like explain what you think about this problem from the perspective of this character.DesperateBeing

That's tricky indeed! Don't let these charachters control your thinking though! Do you know Feyerabend?
  • The Inflation Reduction Act

All billionaires should be forced to reduce their capital with 99%. ALL of them. In ALL countries. All factories producing shit should be closed. All energy obligatory to be produced with aid of the Sun. All energy should be stored in hydrogen. All so-called important scientific experiments should be banned. Except CERN, all sites should close. Only one rocket per year should be launched. For maintaining satellites or puting communication based ones in orbit. All atomic weapons to be dismantled. All test animals should be freed (it's a shame for people to use them and collect prizes for their abuse). The Amazone area should be fenced and left alone. No one is allowed to have more than two childre. Etc. The costs for this are paid of that 99%.

  • Why Was There A Big Bang
Yet, most animals seem to be unbothered by questions about Life's Meaning, or the inevitability of Life's End. TGnomon

They don't have to bother. They just live.
  • You are not your body!
The "someone" is a product of the whole body. I could say the "someone" is located in the brain, but the brain is an inseparable part of the whole.Bitter Crank

I disagree. The body itself (without the brain) is you. There is nothing in your brain that is you. You are not your brain but your body. Your body stands in an ununtiable connection with your brain (inner world) though. Like it is also connected with the physical world. That is, you stand in connection, or in between these two worlds (inner and outer).
  • You are not your body!
If soemone thinks he is a body, it means that everything in him is material. Thoughts too? Yes, thoughts too. This doesn't mean that they can touch them. Neither can they touch their brain. But since they believe that thoughts are produced by and take place in the brain, they must be material, mustn't theyAlkis Piskas

I think I'm a body. What's wrong with that? I don't consider my brain or the physical world as an essential part of me although I am bound to them in an unentangable way. This doesn't mean I am pure matter. There is more than matter alone. There is something inside of matter. Call it soul.
  • Are psychological models discovered or enforced?
Self-reflection (examining ourselves) + Self-affecting (causal-reflexivity i.e. our thoughts cause other thoughts and these others, ad infinitum or cyclical)TheMadFool

Self reflection: looking in the mirror or looking at thoughts and reactions others have about you. My neighbor can tell me I joke and sing too much, my psychologist can award me the title "manic-depressive with a touch of schizophrenia and psychotic paranoia", my wife can tell me I rant on and on unsubstantially, while my mirror image tells me I'm an intelligent human being who thinks of others and l like to joke and fool around, while my serious, dark-voiced other neighbor can't stand me for that and joins with other neighbors to write a complaint about my education of our child who screams too much like me (being jealous of my wit).

Who am I? Should the social sciences be invoked? Are social sciences the same or on equal footing with psychology. Or maybe antroplogy? What can the social sciences and psychology say about antropologists? Why do they examine cultures? Can this be done objectively, as is demanded in science?

Causal reflexivity. What reflexes are caused? Which thoughts come up when self examining? What is it that you examine in the first place? What is the self?
  • You are not your body!
Why should the body be separate from YOU? Isn't the body part of you or maybe even the you (how terribly this may sound to some)?
